Summary

Kwame Ture was a Trinidadian and American activist who played a major role in the civil rights movement in the United States and the global pan-African movement. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, he moved to the United States at age 11 and became an activist while attending the Bronx High School of Science. Ture was a key leader in the development of the Black Power movement, first while leading the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), then as the "Honorary Prime Minister" of the Black Panther Party and as a leader of the All-African People's Revolutionary Party (A-APRP).

Changed Stokely Carmichael to Kwame Ture. Ture changed his name because his previous one was a slave name. Stop joking around, you don't see Freddie Mercury's article referring to him as Farrokh Bulsara. Kwame Ture was his legal and preferred name. Besides, the article already pointlessly uses Ture and Carmichael almost interchangably.

Kwame Ture is his chosen name. Regardless of whether people refer to him more by his birth-name, by his choosing of his name, it becomes the most valid way to refer to him. Also, the way that Black people (more specifically African/Black-Americans) are referred to was inconsistent, so most references to "blacks" were changed to "African-Americans", unless found within quotes; cases of "black" were also capitalized..
